Работниците, които са наети на работа чрез агенции обикновено се наричат временно наети и в повечето случаи се ползват с по-голямата част от правата на наетите лица (employed), като трудовият им статус е малко по-различен.
Според закона, агенциите нямат правото да ви взимат парична такса, за това, че са ви намерили работа, без да ви уведомят предварително и да получат вашето съгласие за това. За всякакви други удръжки, които искат да правят от вашата работна заплата, също е необходимо съгласие от ваша страна. Те не могат да ви принудят да работите повече от 48 часа на седмица и трябва да получавате поне минималното заплащане, което е 6,19 паунда на час за лица над 22 годишна възраст и 4,98 паунда за лица между 18 и 22 години.
Когато работите на територията на Обединеното кралство вие сте под защитата на законите за безопасен труд, независимо от това каква длъжност заемате, какъв е вашият трудов статус и от естеството на работата, която вършите. Повечето компании намират работна ръка чрез агенциите с цел повече хора да започнат временно и след това да се подберат по-добрите от тях за постоянна заетост. В такива случаи вашият договор трябва автоматично да се пренасочи към компанията, която ви е наела, въпреки, че за работодателят ви в повечето случаи е по-изгодно да ви води като лице, наето чрез агенция.
