Много наши сънародници пристигат във Великобритания с малки или почти никакви познания по английски език и се надяват, че ако намерят работа в някоя българска фирма на Острова, това няма да е проблем. В този материал ще разгледаме доколко е възможно, дали е лесно и какво точно означава да се работи в българска фирма, без изобщо да се знае английски език. Статията сме насочили към хората, които ще идват тепърва във Великобритания, както и към тези, които познават някого, който се кани да емигрира и има минимални познания по английски.
На пръв поглед изглежда, че за да работим в български магазин или българско заведение, няма да са ни необходими познания по английски. Дали обаче това е точно така? Зависи какво и къде работите. Ако сте помощник-кухня, мияч на чинии или работите друга еднообразна работа, при която ще общувате само с работодателя или прекия ви шеф – българин – да, тогава незнанието на английски език няма да е чак такъв проблем. Така е и във фирмите, където сте заобиколени само от българи и не се налага да разбирате инструкции на английски. С малки познания по английски вероятно бихте се справили и ако работите в склада на голям магазин и отговаряте основно за разтоварване и подреждане на стоката, без да се налага да разбирате по-сложни инструкции на английски.
При работа, изискваща контакти с клиенти, нещата вече стоят другояче. Във Великобритания има доста български магазини и заведения и мнозинството от тях са в Лондон. Истината е обаче, че много малка част от тях разчитат само на български клиенти. В повечето български заведения, като “Sunny Beach”, “Bulgarian House”, “The Old House”, “Rio”, “Deja Vue Garden”*, част от клиентелата са английскоговорящи посетители. В голямата част от българските магазини се продава не само българска храна, а и източноевропейска. Точно тези магазини са и най-оборотните – ако българите във Великобритания сме около 200 000, по някои изчисления, то източноевропейците на Острова са около 3 милиона. Този вид бизнес модел “българска и източно-европейска храна” е доста успешен – някои от сънародниците ни откриват вкуса на българските храни в подобни на нашите, румънски, полски, руски по произход храни. В тези източноевропейски магазини, естествено, се изисква да се говори на английски.
Ако българите на Острова са наистина 200 000, вероятно около 5 %, т.е. около 10 000 българи във всеки един момент се оглеждат за нова работа. Ако предположим, че от тях поне 10 % смятат работата в българско заведение или магазин за привлекателна, лесна и не изискваща квалификация и език – тогава броят на потенциалните кандидати е около 1000 души.
Към момента, българските магазини и заведения на Острова са около 50. Част от тях са малки кафенета и магазинчета, които представляват семеен бизнес и много рядко наемат външен човек. Повечето от тези 50 обекта вече си имат персонал и ако им трябва нов човек, ще е само за да замести напускащ служител. Особено текучество при тях не се забелязва.
В някои български магазини има работници, които работят там от 10 години – което показва, че бройката със свободни позиции за работа в български заведения или магазини месечно ще се брои на пръстите на едната ръка.
Ако допуснем, че всеки месец ще има 5 свободни позиции в съществуващите обекти и ще се отварят по 5 нови позиции – това отново прави само около 10 свободни места месечно – и около 1000 желаещи да ги заемат.
Сами знаете как работи пазарната икономика при голямо търсене и малко предлагане: ако един работодател има свободна позиция и много желаещи да я заемат, едва ли би наел човек с най-ниската квалификация и едва ли би предложил висока заплата, добър договор и екстри. Или ако го направи – ще бъде само на хора, които много внимателно е подбрал, проверил е и с времето им се е доверил.
Описвайки този сценарий с български заведения и магазини, е добре да напомним, че той е идентичен с други етнически обекти – турски, полски, руски, румънски и много други подобни. Много често тези видове магазини и заведения се конкурират едни други. При конкурентен капиталистически пазар успява бизнесът, който има по-малки разходи и по-високи приходи. Малките разходи се дължат, до известна степен, и на по-ниските заплати. Помислете от гледната точка на един собственик – ако вие имахте едно свободно място в магазин или заведение и стотици желаещи за него, бихте ли дали заплата, по-висока от минималната!? Защо да го правите!? Желаещи да заемат позицията има много, а вие трябва да успеете да предложите по-ниски цени от съседния турски ресторант, а ако плащате много високи заплати, няма да можете да бъдете конкурентни.
Начинът на наемане – с договор, официално или “на черно”, както и редовното плащане на заплатите е една друга тема. Много от нас знаят, че и във Великобритания има доста бизнеси, при които се работи без трудов договор, плащат се пари на ръка (което е незаконно), а и много от работещите не се интересуват колко би била брутната им заплата, интересуват се колко пари влизат в джоба им. Това още повече се отнася до емигрантите, дошли за няколко месеца или няколко години. Част от тях не се интересуват какви данъци събира Кралицата. Много от тях са тук, да изплащат заеми в Родината си или за да издържат семейства в нея.
Ние не поощряваме тази практика на определяне на заплати и (не)плащане, но е факт, че тя съществува и е редно да я споменем. В Обединеното кралство идват доста отчаяни хора, готови на всичко, за да се задържат тук, да не се връщат обратно или да изкарат пари, да спасят положението. Докато ги има тях, ще съществува и практиката която обсъждаме. Редно е да отбележим, че при работа “на черно”, човек не може да докаже, че живее законно в Кралството, като упражнява правата си като гражданин на Европейски съюз. Това може да се окаже голяма пречка, ако по-нататък, с отминаване на годините, човекът вече е решил да се засели трайно в Кралството и да придобие по-стабилен статут си като постоянен жител или да получи гражданство.
При някои обяви за набиране на персонал прави впечатление, че определени обекти доста често сменят персонал – например, сервитьорки. Понякога в коментарите към такива обяви може да се прочете, че дадени работодатели били експлоататори, че не предлагали договори, че условията им са неблагоприятни. Дори и това да е точно така, вероятно тези неблагоприятни условия за желани от други. Да не забравяме, че на тези десетина места месечно се надяват около 1000 кандидата. И колкото и условията да не са приемливи, винаги ще се намери някой, който да се съгласи на тях – в бизнеса зависи от търсенето и предлагането. Има една българска поговорка, за всеки влак си има пътници, та и за всяко едно работно място ще се намерят и работници.
От друга страна, не бива да бързаме да обвиняваме работодателите и собствениците на такива магазини и заведния, да казваме, че са се ояли и са забравили откъде идват – те ръководят бизнес в една капиталистическа страна и трябва да го водят по правилата за успешен бизнес тук.
Практиката показва и една друга страна на въпроса – хора, които дълги години са работили във фирми на техни сънародници, живели са в затворено общество на сънародници, гледали са телевизия от родината си – но нещо се случва и те загубват тази работа – било поради фалит на фирмата, смяна на собственици или поради това, че тя вече е неподходяща за тях. Такива хора, често с многогодишен “стаж” в Кралството, се оказват пред невъзможност да си намерят друга работа, защото са неконкурентни – основно поради това, че не са успели да научат английски език. Помощите по безработица за хора от ЕС са само 6 месеца и след това се изисква човек да докаже, че има реални шансове да бъде нает на работа – а на всички е ясно, че без да говори английски, те не са големи.
Затова, идвайки във Великобритания, не ограничавайте плановете си до намиране на работа в българско заведение или магазин. Мислете, подготвяйте си и се пробвайте да си намерите работа в британски компании.
С тази статия по-скоро искаме да ви подтикнем да помислите предварително – че, ако отивате в друга държава без език и без квалификации, вие нямате много избор – и това е ваше решение. Възможностите ви за работа биха били много минимални. Статията “Намиране на работа без английски във Великобритания” също може да е полезна. Вярно е, че много хора успяват като емигранти. Успяват тези, които не се срамуват да работят всякаква работа, но и учат език, нови умения, образование или занаят, не се боят да рискуват и имат късмет.
